Rajabzadeh vs. Wisse for the LHW Title

  • Announcement

GLORY middleweight world champion Donovan Wisse (23-1, 10 KO) will step up in weight to face Bahram Rajabzadeh (73-6, 65 KO) for the vacant GLORY light heavyweight world championship at GLORY 107 on April 25 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Tarik Khbabez has officially been stripped of the title after refusing to fight number one contender Bahram Rajabzadeh in what would have been a rematch of their very close 'Fight of the Year' winning contest from 2025, which Khbabez won via majority decision.

The news was announced today by GLORY in a statement which read:

“Rajabzadeh and Wisse will fight for the light heavyweight title at GLORY 107, RTM Stage, Rotterdam.

Tarik Khbabez has been stripped of the GLORY light heavyweight world title. Despite having previously confirmed and announced his commitment to defend the title at GLORY 107 on April 25, Khbabez has now rejected a rematch against Bahram Rajabzadeh.

Their first meeting was the ‘Fight of the Year’, it ended in a close decision, and fans have demanded the rematch ever since.

As the promotion, GLORY selects the matchups. As a result, Tarik Khbabez has been stripped and Bahram Rajabzadeh will face Donovan Wisse for the vacant title.”

Following the fight with Khbabez at GLORY 104 last October, Bahram announced his retirement. That was short lived, however, as ‘The Golden Wolf’ returned with a thirty-one second demolition of Cristian Ristea at GLORY 105 over this past weekend. He now aims to finally capture his first GLORY world championship which has narrowly eluded him since his breakout year in 2023.

For Donovan Wisse, he is now aiming to put his name alongside the GLORY greats and become just the third multi-division champion in GLORY history and the first since Alex Pereira achieved that feat in 2021. The 28-year-old, in his last fight, broke Alex Pereira's all-time middleweight title defence record with his sixth successive defence after initially winning the title back in 2022.
