The penultimate round of the GLORY x RISE Last Featherweight Standing tournament is upon us. In the early hours of Saturday, March 28, eight of the world’s top featherweights will meet at GLORY 106 from the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan
On the GLORY side of the bracket, we will see two rematches that have been years in the making. Fresh of their respective victories at COLLISION 8, GLORY featherweight world champion Petch (175-40-3, 27 KO) will rematch KO artist Abraham Vidales (18-4, 14 KO). Their first outing was at COLLISION 4 in 2022 where Petch defended his title against Vidales, winning by decision.
Portuguese sensation Miguel Trindade (64-8, 26 KO) will look to avenge his 2023 loss to the always entertaining Berjan Peposhi (32-5, 16 KO). Both fighters have been on incredible streaks since they last clashed with Trindade scoring wins over Chadd Collins, Kento, & Bobo Sacko, and Peposhi winning eight of his past nine fights. The time has never been better for them to lock horns once again.
On the RISE side, former GLORY title contender & leading Japanese fighter Kento Haraguchi (28-6-1, 15 KO) will go up against talented newcomer Hiroki Kasahara (39-8, 17 KO), who is 2-0 in the tournament after joining in the provisional round.
Popular South Korean veteran Sung-hyun Lee (71-13-2, 17 KO) takes on top young prospect Yura Kono (17-1, 9 KO). With a twelve-year age gap, Sung-Hyun will be aiming to prove once again he can hang with the next generation while Yura will undoubtedly view this as an opportunity to score the biggest win of his career to date.
The four winners will then qualify for a four-man one-fight tournament later this year to crown the Last Featherweight Standing.
In addition, the seven-fight card will be headlined by Shiro Matsumoto (55-17-4, 19 KO) defending his RISE bantamweight title against Koki Osaki (38-6-1, 21 KO). In the co-main event, budding superstar Ryujin Nasukawa (17-2, 9 KO) and heavy-hitter Kaito Hasegawa (15-2, 12 KO) battle for the vacant RISE super flyweight championship.
GLORY 106 takes place Saturday, March 28, from Tokyo, Japan, and will be broadcasted at 7:30am CET | 6:30am GMT | 2:30am ET. Please visit GLORYKickboxing.com for full broadcast & event information.
